Color

1. Color is probably the one visual element that gives us the most pleasure. Many people have a favorite color that they are drawn to. Various studies have demonstrated that color affects a wide range of psychological and physiological responses.

Color affects us on such a basic level that few would argue that we have a direct emotional response to it. Different colors trigger different responses for everyone. A good example is the colors green and red because they tend to remind people of Christmas. Now if you have had nothing but bad experiences with Christmas you are going to be upset or moody when you see those colors and now if you have had nothing but good experiences with Christmas when you see those colors you are going to feel happy and excited. Also it has been said that colors can trigger a response so bad that people could go create a crime just on seeing a certain color. Not everyone is going to have the same feelings about every color and not everyone is going to respond the same when they see color.

2. The theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fasinates me is that color can control how a person acts. Red is suppose to increase appetite, blue significantly lower a persons blood pressure, pulse, and respiration, and pink can calm children down. It is just wild to think that color affects how we act and feel.

3. Looking at this video I like Monet's paintings. He believed to just see color not objects. With him just seeing color you were able to still make out what he was painting but it wasn't just a pond or bushes it seemed to be so much more. It's hard to emplain. He thought of himself as a color scientist. His paintings were amazing. The colors blended so well together and really made u feel like you were in a pond and it just gave you a feeling of calmness.

4. Looking at this video and knowning about color I can definitly see how colors makes you have an emotional reaction. Like with the stain glass windows in the hospice with those bright colors. You can really feel like you are actually in the last judgement and sadness comes over you when u see the rich go to heavan and the poor has to prove themselves. Also with Goya's painting his monstrous paintings/black period he used dark colors and you really felt them like the man eating his child, that was really powerful, scary, and upsetting.
